Born on February 20, 1953, in Riga, Latvia.
A ceramist, she works with clay, porcelain, stone, all materials used in ceramics. The one thing you shouldn’t expect from the artist is utilitarian objects designed to accommodate floral or fruit arrangements, or for sipping your coffee or birch juice. The vases crafted by Juta Rindina blossom like flowers themselves; there are even tureens of soup, but they look more like painted sculptures. Juta uses materials of ceramics to create the world of images, and they inhabit her artistic space. The works of the artist provide the scene where centuries, ancient cultures – undeniably part of ceramics – converge, but at the same time represent something distinctly contemporary – dynamic, lightning-quick, pulsating.
Juta Rindina draws and paints, but above all else her works epitomize plasticity, so sensitive and incomparable. And what’s more – the feeling that she truly enjoys her work, placing her within the ranks of those who have found themselves and have mastered the art of self-expression.
Juta Rindina could not be anything but a ceramist.
