Born on July 22, 1933, in Žīvēni of Liezere rural municipality in Madona district, Latvia.

2002 The IV degree Order of the Three Stars.
1992 Master of Art degree, Latvian Academy of Art.
1989 Professor at the Latvian Academy of Art.
1984 The diploma and the medal of Latvian Artists’ Union for outstanding creative achievements in 1983.
1982 Associate professor at the Latvian Academy of Art, Department of Painting, the head of Easel-painting Master-studio.
1973–1982 Acting associate professor at the Latvian Academy of Art, Department of Painting.
1967–1973 Teacher at the Latvian Academy of Art, Department of Painting.
1961–1967 Senior teacher of drawing at the Latvian Academy of Art Evening Courses.
1962 Member of the Latvian Artists’ Union.
