Rietumu Capital Centre, 7 Vesetas Street
Gallery Daugava is presenting an exhibition of Laima Bikse’s art comprising 38 works in the new exhibition hall of Western Bank 7, Vesetas Street for the enjoyment of Riga citizens and its visitors. It began in December and runs through the first two weeks of January. The exhibition features the artist’s creations of the last few years. For many, Laima Bikse will be a new revelation while for others it will be another familiar encounter with her art. Her painting is a kind of game involving small trees, large birds and dandelions resembling palm-trees under which a writer who is as small as an ant is working on her novel. There are also forests, sunsets, berry pickers… Is that reality or is it a fairy-tale? It is painting expressing the love of life, love of surrounding events, rhythms of nature and the flow of life. This exhibition is about love with each colour area radiating this feeling. It is not only about joy but about sadness and longing as well. And above all, Laima’s painting conveys confidence that good will prevail in all of us.
