Maija Tabaka’s latest paintings emphasize architecture, including palaces, arcades, galleries and bridges, and, of course, people from different eras and cultures. Again, viewers are invited to travel through various times and places. But while lingering at each artwork they cannot help feeling that they are encountering something familiar, although partially forgotten. Thus, they may feel as if they are remembering something they had read, visually enjoyed and dreamt about.

Maija Tabaka’s passion is color, space, form, light and rhythms and her paintings are proof of her mastery of them as well of as her vivid imagination. Although nearly everyone in Latvia knows Maija Tabaka’s painting, the artist is still able to surprise.
