For three consecutive years the entrepreneur Guntis Rāvis has financed the Boriss Bērziņš scholarship which is awarded to three Latvian Art Academy students for the best drawings. On September 19, he invited this year’s winners Kristine Graudule, Māra Brīvere and Sigita Lūse to the KOYA restaurant. The previous years’ winners, Madara Neikena, Jānis Svars, Krista Dzudzilo, Sanda Skujiņa, Jolanta Basova and Zane Zelmeša, as well as the Academy’s rector, Professor Aleksejs Naumovs, the head of the Drawing department, Professor Edvīns Kalnenieks, Dace Lielā, drawing teacher and Anda Treija, the director of the gallery Daugava, were also invited. In a relaxed atmosphere with a view of the Daugava River at sunset and Viktorija Pelše’s sculpture, all the participants had a good time. The news of the scholarship winners is always is a great surprise for the students, because often it is unexpected. The best draftsmen of the Academy are awarded this scholarship. Usually it goes to those who have worked hard all year to perfect their drawing skills. Finally the students had the opportunity to thank Guntis Rāvis for the scholarship that certainly considerably supports their studies. Thanks!
