Guntis Rāvis, Entrepreneur Gallery Daugava is a commercial gallery. It has operated successfully for eighteen years by selling and renting genuine works of art. However the income derived from this activity can only support exhibitions and no more. Any other activities, such as sponsoring exhibitions abroad, art publications or supporting young upcoming talent, require additional funding. Gallery Daugava has published two art albums: Imants Vecozols. Painting and Biruta Baumane. Painting and a third about the art of the painter Biruta Delle is on the way; this can be attributed to the generous support of a successful businessman, Mr. Guntis Rāvis. His deep interest in and desire to support art, literature, theater and opera have been manifested in substantial contributions making it possible to publish catalogues, participate in exhibitions abroad and in international art fairs, support the most promising draftsmen of the Art Academy and create and maintain a gallery home page. Every year three the most promising draughtsmen of the Art Academy are granted the scholarship named after the artist Boriss Bērziņš. Krista Dzudzilo, Madara Neikena and Jānis Svars were awarded in the academic year 2010.\2011. but Jolanta Basova, Sanda Skujiņa and Zane Zlemeša will receive it in the academic year 2011./2012.
